I thought now would be an appropriate time to check in and see if anyone had interest in a trip to Argentina…a vacation to an exotic locale, a respite from the harsh Canadian winter and an opportunity to warm up for the summer polo season to come and see great polo at spectacular venues.

Argentina has much to offer, just 45 minutes from where you will be staying is the vibrant city of Buenos Aires…walk the cobblestone streets; gaze at the beautiful monuments and architecture; shop the many artisan and gaucho stands; sip coffee in the cafes where famous writers spent time scribbling their thoughts; watch tango in the plazas over a pitcher of sangria…heck join in yourself! Buenos Aires has so much to offer, tell me what your interests are, I’ll be your guide.

Join me at the spectacular Paul Pieres Polo Lodge, relax in luxurious comfort tucked away in your own little oasis just outside of the hotbed of polo, Pilar.  This location provides easy access both to Buenos Aires and what must be the highest concentration of polo in the world…over 200 polo fields within 50 square kilometres!

Just steps from your door is a polo field, available to you in the morning and afternoon of every day of your stay…take lessons, stick and ball, practice and play polo. Also available to those more experienced players is a club membership at La Lequa Polo Club, where you can play with the players whom are making polo ponies for some of the best operations in the world.

Take advantage of my familiarity with the polo scene here and allow me take you to the tack shops, tour the polo ranches, see the games of the 16-22 goal Argentina Polo Tour  at the local Pilar polo ranches and at the cathedral of polo, the grand stadium in Buenos Aires, Palermo! If you have interest in putting a team together and playing in the Polo Tour, just let me know, it can be arranged.

We will also enjoy Argentine hospitality at typical asados, the post-game parties and during the horse auctions where the best polo bloodlines are offered for sale to the highest bidder.  So much to see and do!  The Argentina Polo Tour runs from the beginning of February until the second week of April.  Also in the second week of April will be the International Series’ Nations Cup a 28 goal tournament held in Palermo, the mecca of polo…time to make your pilgrimage!

Whilst I be the organizer and instructor of this league, and it is supposed to be work for me, on these rainy evenings without, I miss it so.  There is something about the pure, unbridled joy of a student improving in a game that is new and oh, so much fun.  As the students find delight in the company of their equine teammates and their developing skills, their teacher couldn’t be more thrilled.

I thought I would take advantage of this particular polo-less evening to thank the Black Diamond Polo Club, it’s members and it’s students for helping create a special atmosphere for learning the sport of polo, it really is amazing to work with this kind of energy and i look forward to the 2010 Coaching League season.  Please follow this link and see the fun had at BDPC Coaching League 2009 and c’mon out and participate, let’s make it bigger and better in 2010!
